Blackpool Illuminations

Every year the seaside town is ablaze with lights of all descriptions, outlining the local landmarks such as the Tower and Pleasure Beach rides, illuminating the streets with scenes and set pieces, winking and flashing in all the colours of the rainbow. Over the season the times vary with switch on every night from early evening until at least 11 o’clock at night. A million light bulbs are used for this spectacular spectacle – the biggest of its kind anywhere in the UK and justly famous.

Helpful Hints

Double-check the switch on times as they vary over the season. Wrap up well as the wind from the sea can be strong and very, very cold! Plenty of places will be open for a warming drink (or a Kiss-me-Quick hat and rock).
