Bristol Jack in the Green is a modern revival of the old May custom of parading a greenery-clad flower-decorated man around town to welcome the spring. Jack is 9 feet tall and is accompanied by various companions including musicians and dancers. They roam the streets of the city before Jack “dies”, releasing the spirit of summer, at Horfield Common at around 4pm.
You may be lucky enough to be given a lucky piece of Jack’s foliage at the end of the day.
In 2017 it will be on Saturday May 6th.
