Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a spectaular annual event lasting three weeks with performances daily except Sundays. It’s been ever-growing since it began over 60 years ago.Expect massed bands, dancers and performers from all over the world, pipers, drums, and Scottish Regiments. It even gets televised – but you don’t get the atmosphere at home! It’s very popular with tourists and each performance lasts an hour-and-a-half.
In 2016 it takes place over Friday 5th August to Saturday 27th August. Each performance lasts 90 minutes but starting times vary according to day – after the first night which starts at 8.30, weekdays are at 9pm, Saturdays at both 7.30 and 1o.30. No performance on Sundays. Ticket prices are on the website (link below).
If you like fireworks, try to go on a Saturday to the late performance.
