Competitors wearing comic fancy-dress outfits race in relay teams of six over a complex obstacle course at the West Piazza,Covent Garden, carrying Christmas Puddings on trays. Expect water jets, foam, flour-filled balloons and other hazards as they hurtle around the course. It’a a charity fundraising event in aid of Cancer Research UK and usually takes place the first Saturday in December; it’s been well established over more than thirty years and now there are similar events following the same format at other locations. There are a couple of knock-out heats with entertainments between whilst the course is set up, then the winners of the heats compete in the final followed by prize giving.
Helpful Hints
In 2022 it was scheduled to take place on Saturday 10th December but was cancelled near the due date- future dates are yet to be announced and if it doesn’t happen again in 2024 I’ll conclude that it’s lapsed.
