|Where:||Alciston, Sussex at the Rose Cottage Inn|
Sussex was famed for its tradition of skipping with long ropes on Good Friday – it used to happen at Brighton, Lewes and other locations but now the only survivor takes place outside the Rose Cottage Inn at Alciston. It’s turned into a local celebration with traditional music and morris dancing as well as good food and drink. Local sides Knots of May and Chanctonbury Ring Morris perform (whatever the weather!) before getting the ropes out for all to join in the skipping.
In 2017 it will be on Friday 14th April.
Parking is limited – try to allow enough room for a tractor to get past in the lane (one was having difficulty squeezing through when we were there in 2013).
