Marldon Apple Pie Fair

Where: Marldon, Devon at the Jubilee Meadow
When: Last Saturday in July
Time: From 11.30

Marldon hosts a typical English village fete each July, with sports, crafts, competitions and entertainments. The unique aspect of this event is the Apple Pie Princess with her donkey-powered  giant-apple-pie cart. The origins of the event lie in the nineteenth century, when local trader George Hill used to provide a huge apple pie for the church fete, delivered by donkey-cart; the current fair is a long-standing revival, now itself nearly half a century old. The fair is officially opened at 2pm by the Apple Pie Princess and a celebrity, and they cut the apple pie to sell with clotted cream. Yum!

Helpful Hints

The event has moved date over time but is presently firmly fixed at the end of July.

In 2017  it will be on Saturday July 29th.
