|Where:||Stratford upon Avon, Warks from New Place|
|When:||Saturday nearest 23rd April|
William Shakespeare’s birthday is celebrated every 23rd April in his home town of Stratford upon Avon. The Bard was born in 1564 and this event has been held for many years on the Saturday nearest his birthdate. Expect a fancy-dress parade of well known characters from his plays, flag waving, wreath laying at the church where he is buried (Holy Trinity Church), folk dancing and street entertainment, and of course lots of thespians.
Crowds can be huge – use the Park and Ride to get into town.
In 2017 it will be on Saturday April 22nd with further celebrations on the Sunday.
