Cardiff St David’s Day Parade

Where: Cardiff City Centre starting at the National Museum
When: 1st March
Time: From12.30

St David is the Patron Saint of Wales; his feast day is March 1st and the Parade in Cardiff celebrates Wales and all things Welsh. Expect lots of flags and banners and National Costume. This is a relatively new festival dating back to 2004 but the traditions and sentiments are of long standing and the event acts as a focus for National pride. As well as the big parade, you can expect to see entertainers in town – we were lucky to catch a traditional male voice choir singing all the anthems you’d hope for just along the street before the parade. Also the city will be decorated with lots of flags, dragons and daffodils.

Helpful Hints

There are plenty of shops selling national products – look out for fresh Welsh Cakes being cooked and sold in the Castle Arcade. We ate Welsh Cakes at Cardiff Castle to get onto the spirit of things!
