Where: | Tenbury Wells - town centre and the Bandstand in the Burgage park |
When: | Weekend near 1st December |
Time: | 10 am onwards with Crowning at 11 am, Druid Ceremony 3pm, Santa Parade 4.30pm |
This is a modern festival founded in 2004 celebrating Tenbury Wells’ long association with Mistletoe growing and trading and there’s a full programme of events, music and theatre connected with the plant. A Druid ceremony is held at the Burgage in which a newly cut mistletoe bough is blessed with beer, apple juice and the elements before being sacrificially cast into the River Teme. The Mistletoe Queen and Holly King (elected locally) are crowned outside the Pump Rooms in the High Street, followed by various activities and entertainments and the day finishes with a Santa lantern parade.
Helpful Hints
In 2024 the Festival should be on Saturday December 7th- check the event Facebook page for full details of timings.
Join the circle at the Druid ceremony- it’s much more fun participating than just standing watching (and you get to sample the beer and apple juice) and you’ll be made very welcome. It’s held on grass in the park so can be muddy underfoot.

Where will the druid mistletoe blessing be held? Icant find any more info
Hi Sam,
Funnily enough I saw a reference to this when I was checking out Spring Equinox events earlier today! The Blessing is at The Burgage in Tenbury Wells at 2.45 – the reference I found was at http://druidnetwork.org/events/ but it does appear also on the linked Mistletoe Association page though it’s not that easy to find – follow the link to http://www.tenbury-mistletoe-festival.co.uk and hover your cursor over “festival” on the bar near the top of the page. A drop-down bar appears with “Mistletoe Season’s Calendar” – select that and you eventually get a list of all the events in the festival including the Blessing, but it takes quite a long time to appear and at first all you get is a reference to accommodation. The Blessing is on November 29th which is a week before the Mistletoe Queen is crowned. Hope you enjoy it!
