|Where:||Upwey, Dorset at St Laurence's Church on Church Street|
Church Clipping events are ancient ceremonies where the congregation encircle their church, with origins a little uncertain but probably in luck-bringing for the year ahead; the name comes from an old word meaning “to embrace” and spellings vary. At Upwey there is a revived celebration going back to the early 1960s and the parishioners surround their beautiful church as part of the Mothers Day service on the Sunday morning because the church is seen as “mother of us all.” (I found that on the Dark Dorset website!)
In 2017 it will be on Sunday 26th March.
