|Where:||Dartmouth, Devon at Boatfleet Bridge|
|When:||A Friday in late August|
Other races take place for waiters and waitresses but perhaps the best known is the event at Dartmouth in Devon, held each August since the mid-1980s as part of the annual Dartmouth Royal Regatta. Competitors must race up and down the street with a tray and glass , pouring a can of beer at the halfway point to take back with them – the winner is the contestant with the most beer in their glass at the finishing line.
Only genuine waiters and waitresses can take part but anyone can watch. A variety of other events take place on the day like Barrel Rolling and a shopping trolley dash as well as the Regatta itself which runs over 3 days from Thursday to Saturday.
In 2016 the race was on Friday 26th August and the Regatta ran from 25th- 27th of August – 2017 dates are yet to be announced.
