Waldron Wassail

Where: Waldron, Sussex at the Star Inn
When: Saturday nearest 6th January (usually)
Time: 8pm

Local sides East Hoathly Morris and Winter Solstice Morris & Mummers organise a traditional wassailing event each January in Sussex. Wassailing is the winter custom of encouraging trees to produce a good crop in the forthcoming year (see article on Wassailing for more info) and is often held in January, in this case on the Saturday nearest to Twelfth Night (or occasionally the week following!). Expect plenty of noise, dancing, mumming and cider.

Helpful Hints

In 2018 it will be on Saturday 6th January and it will be the 27th Wassail!
