Walsall Walking the Fair

Where: Walsall, West Midlands, starting at St Pauls Square, Darwall Street, then Bradford Street
When: Friday in late April
Time: 10.30 am

King Charles I granted the town of Walsall the right to trade back in its early seventeenth century charter, and today’s annual Walking the Fair remembers the granting of that right. It’s organised by the local Civic Society and is led by the Mayor, accompanied by musicians and morris dancers. The Town Crier will call everyone to order and read from the historic proclamation from the Market Charter, and the Mayor will chat to the local tradespeople en route, collecting for charity on the way.

Helpful Hints

The walk usually lasts around an hour and takes place on a Friday morning in late April.

In 2017 it was on Friday 21st April – 2018 date is yet to be announced but will probably be 20th.
