Birnam World Championship Haggis Eating Competition

Where: Birnam - at the Birnam Games Park off the A923
When: Last Saturday in August
Time: From 11 am onwards

Noshing haggis

The Birnam Highland Games are held each year on the last Saturday in August and as well as all the events you could hope for in a traditional festival of this type, there are unique competitions like the World Championship Haggis Eating Competition and the Kiltie Dash. The former is open free of charge and the person who eats the haggis quickest, wins, while the latter is a fun race open to all kilt-wearers. Also expect piping, dancing, a funfair, field & track events and “heavy” events such as caber tossing and throwing the hammer. The games have been held annually since 1864.

Helpful Hints

In 2024 the games should be held on Saturday 31st  August (to be confirmed).

Parking is available on site for a modest charge and there are plenty of food choices (including haggis!).
