When: | 1st Saturday in September |
Time: | From 9.30 am - 5pm |
The Braemar Highland Gathering is one of the best known and established events of its kind, with its origins going back over hundreds of years. All the activities you could hope for in a Highland Gathering are there including caber tossing, highland dancing, tug-of-war, putting the stone, piping, massed band displays, racing for all ages and throwing the hammer, many happening simultaneously throughout the day. Expect lots of tartan and traditional music and the presence of members of the Royal Family.
Helpful Hints
Admission on the day costs from £12 per person – seats can be booked in advance for a higher fee (see website for details). If you want a good view of the dancing, the Grandstand is the place to book. Free parking is available on grass a short walk away, and you can come and go from the Gathering site (hands are stamped).
In 2025 it should be held on Saturday September 6th.
