Dunstable Orange Rolling

Where: Formerly Dunstable, Beds at Pascombe Downs
When: Formerly Good Friday
Time:

Instead of the more usual Easter pursuit of Egg Rolling, the people of Dunstable used to roll oranges down the slopes of Pascombe Pit on the Downs every Good Friday. The custom died out in the late twentieth century amid health and safety fears, but it is frequently reported as a current custom. There was a one-year revival in 2023 so perhaps it’ll get going again regularly one day.
