Where: | Sussex - location changes each year |
When: | A Saturday in July or August |
Time: | 7pm for spectators |
The British Lawn Mower Racing Association organise an annual grand prix for grasscutting enthusiasts – it lasts for 12 hours overnight with the climax being the race of the ride-on lawn tractors. The other classes are for standard mowers, for those which are roller-driven and for small ride-on mowers. Competitors are likely to be there all day but the fun for spectators begins with the parade lap; races start at 7pm. Famous drivers have been known to participate but not a bit of grass is cut – blades are removed prior to the competition for safety reasons! The BLMRA organise other events but this one the best known and arguably the most exciting in their calendar ; money raised is given to charity.
Helpful Hints
Anyone can watch but drivers need to be 18 to compete and must be BLMRA members.
In 2024 it was on Saturday 10th into Sunday 11th August at Troopers Field, Petersfield- 2025 details are yet to be announced.
