Pudding Race 2013

Competitors wearing comic fancy-dress outfits raced in relay teams of six over a complex obstacle course at  the West Piazza,Covent Garden, carrying Christmas Puddings on trays. You could expect water jets, foam, flour-filled balloons and other hazards as they hurtled around the course. It was a charity fundraising event in aid of Cancer Research UK and usually took place the first Saturday in December; it was well established over more than thirty years and spawned similar events following the same format at other locations. There were a couple of knock-out heats with entertainments between whilst the course was set up, then the winners of the heats competed in the final followed by prize giving.

Helpful Hints

In 2022 it was scheduled to take place on Saturday 10th December but was cancelled near the due date- future dates are yet to be announced and  I conclude that it’s currently lapsed. If you hear anything about a revival please let me know!
