Armed Forces Day (including Prudhoe)

Where: Countrywide with Prudhoe, Northumberland in Eastwoods Park
When: Last Weekend in June
Time: All day; Prudhoe usually 11 am - 4 pm

Armed Forces Day is a modern event celebrating the contribution that the Army, Navy and Air Force make to the country, with more of a festival atmosphere than the sombre commemorations of Remembrance Day. Currently-serving personnel, reservists, cadets and veterans all participate along with their families, in a range of events which often include a parade, presentation of medals, military displays, speeches and perhaps a fly-past. Begun in 2006, the day is the main focus of a week-long Armed Forces Week and is a chance for civilians and civic dignitaries to show their support, and to have some fun at the same time.

Helpful Hints

In 2026 it should be on Saturday June 27th, with other events in the week around it. In 2026 the Prudhoe parade and festivities should be on Sunday 28th.

As it’s a nationally occurring event, I’ve used a town local to where I live to illustrate what typically happens- follow the links below to find an interactive map and details for individual events all around the country. Eastwoods Park in Prudhoe is a leafy open space at the East end of town near the Golf Club, with a cafe and play area, and is well-used for community events.
