The London Harness Horse Parade is an annual event celebrating the heritage of horse drawn vehicles and is the amalgamation of the Cart Horse Parade and Van Horse Parade, formerly held separately. One of the original aims of the event was to promote the welfare of the beasts concerned and to promote interest in their work. Expect all sizes of equine from donkeys to heavy horses, with working brewers’ drays, hearses and all types of commercial vehicles on active display.
Helpful Hints
The parade is now held outside the city, but keeps London in its name because of close historical associations. Plenty of free carparking is available on-site.
In 2025 it should be held on Monday April 21st.

We went to this show for the first time 2 years ago and had the most wonderful day out. The horses are wonderfully groomed and decked out and they pull a wide variety of beautifully maintained original vehicles.
We would have gone again last year but the weather was so awful – hoping for better this year and we will be there again.

This event looks great, but you need cash rather than card to get in. This year (2015) the gate didn’t take card payments, which wouldn’t have mattered if there was a cash machine in Ardingly or Turners Hill. We saw other people being turned away too. In the end by chance we saw the parade through the fence when we were leaving, and it looked fantastic – but it wasn’t quite the day out we had planned…
