Where: | Formerly Kempton Park Racecourse, Surrey (Formerly Huntingdon,Cambridgeshire at the Racecourse on the Stukeleys) |
When: | Formerly May Day Bank Holiday Monday |
Time: | Formerly 2pm |
The Mascot Grand National was held each May Day Bank Holiday at Kempton Park Racecourse and was contested between costumed mascots belonging to sporting clubs, charities and other organisations. They had to race over hurdles on a course of one furlong – expect a field of 50 furry-costumed competitors and plenty of tumbles! It was a fundraiser for local charities.
Helpful Hints
It was held alongside regular horse racing so you must pay the normal admission charge.
From 2012 the venue and date were moved to Kempton Racecourse from Huntingdon and then it was held each May Day Bank Holiday instead of in October.
From 2014 there were no signs that it would take place so unless someone with insider knowledge tells me any different, I conclude that it has lapsed.

I went last year,it’s hilarious! only thing was I was unable to place a bet. Why not have a betting pot, half to be paid out on winners the rest going to the charity??
