Spalding Pumpkin Festival

Where: Spalding, Lincolnshire, Town Centre and Ayscoughfee Hall
When: Saturday in early October
Time: All day from 11 am - 3pm Saturday

At the centre of one of the major vegetable production areas of the country, Spalding is ideally placed as the setting for a celebration of the pumpkin harvest – local producers sponsor the event, including the biggest producers of pumpkins in Europe. Each October, a large farmers market takes place with entertainments throughout the day, which in the past was usually on a Friday early in the month but has now shifted to Saturday. Expect face painting, carved pumpkins, musical entertainment, fancy dress competitions and the fabulous Pumpkin themed displays.

Helpful Hints

In 2024 it was on Saturday 12th October, with stalls, live performances and Pumpkin Street sculptures around the town centre. 2025 details are yet to be announced.

2021 it was on Saturday 9th October from 10-3. The day was changed and the festival was different to normal for social distancing reasons. There were pumpkin themed stalls at the market, roaming street entertainers, morris dancers, a window display competition, performances on a small stage and a pumpkin sculpture trail, as well a plenty of food & drink.

It’s organised by the local council with the help of local sponsors and charities. Other pumpkin parades occur around the country but the Spalding event is one of the biggest and best established of its kind in the UK.
