Staithes Nightgown Parade

Where: Staithes, North Yorkshire in the High Street
When: Friday evening in mid August
Time: 7.30 pm

The opening event of the annual Staithes and Runswick Bay Lifeboat Weekend is always the Friday evening’s Nightgown Parade. The event is organised by the local RNLI and you can expect a procession led by a jazz band, followed by a plethora of nightie and pyjama-wearing participants which will include fabulous costumes, heavy disguise and much cross-dressing! Traditionally white nightgowns are the order of the day but anything goes today: expect a large crowd and a light-hearted atmosphere. The parade is only one event in a weekend of activities organised by the RNLI which include demonstrations of the abilities of the lifeboat crews, fireworks and a duck race. The RNLI is a very important organisation in coastal communities like Staithes and the weekend is a way of raising awareness and of raising funds to help them to continue their work.

Helpful Hints

In 2024 it was on Friday 16th August- 2025 date is yet to be confirmed but likely to be Friday 15th. The full programme for the weekend will appear on the Facebook page below.

The Parade begins by the Harbour and goes up the High Street, past the carpark and up to the sports club. There’s a large pay & display carpark in the village- don’t drive down the hill as you won’t be able to park there.
