|When:||The fourth Sunday in Lent (usually falls in March)|
Mothering Sunday is the Fourth Sunday in Lent when traditionally people return home to visit their Mothers and often take a gift. In the UK this has been partially fused with an American celebration called Mothers Day which is held later in the year – here the timing of Mothering Sunday has been kept but the name and card giving of the American custom have become the norm. It’s popular to take Mothers out for lunch or afternoon tea on this day.
In 2017 Mothers Day is on Sunday 26th March.
