Annan Border Gathering and Fun Day

Where: Annan, Dumfriesshire at Annan Academy Playing Fields
When: Saturday in late August
Time: 12 noon onwards until 4.30

Gatherings don’t only happen in the Highlands, and the event at Annan is a good example of a lowland version, with a Parade of the Clans with their flags, a Pipe Band, historical re-enactments and living history from a variety of historical eras, music and children’s entertainments and sports such as Whisky Barrel Rolling. It’s a relatively new event in the calendar; it’s the centre of the Annan History Town’s Summer Festival and it takes place annually at the end of August. There are arts, crafts and food stalls, displays such as falconry, story-telling, bouncy castles and more to keep the whole family entertained for the afternoon.

Helpful Hints

In 2026 it should be on Saturday August 29th. In 2025 it was on a Sunday so make sure you get the right day!

It’s a ticketed event with a discount for advance purchases (£8 in 2025, or £10 on the day at the gate). Free signposted parking is available at Hecklegirth with a minibus shuttle to the show field.
