St Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, whose feast day falls upon 30th November, and unsurprisingly the date is celebrated with particular enthusiasm in the town named in his honour, St Andrews in Fife. Organised by BID St Andrews for several years, the free unticketed event features a community market during the day, followed by live music and a giant outdoor ceilidh, then a torchlit procession to the beach accompanied by a Pipe Band for a spectacular firework finale. Expect lots of local produce and crafts at the market, and traditional reels at the ceilidh – no previous experience necessary for the dancing, and all are welcome.
